The indoor ski resort Ski Dubai is located in the Emirates Mall shopping centre. The review of the mall includes photos of what Ski Dubai looks like from the street, with a large grey ‘slope-tube’ above the roof of the building. The ski resort in Dubai opened in 2005 and has been delighting visitors for 16 years. For residents of the Emirates and tourists from hot countries, it is a great joy and an exotic experience. I myself had not seen snow for a long time, and my 3-year-old child had never seen it at all, so we decided to go and visit. Actually, I had been planning to do this for a long time, and finally we made it on the last day of spring. It is already very hot outside, with temperatures rising above 40 degrees, so visiting such a place right now is simply delightful.
I bought tickets online on the resort’s website. There are several packages available at different prices. Children’s and adult tickets are the same price, regardless of age and height. I chose the penguin package, which cost 250 dirhams per person. As far as I remember, children under 2 years old are not allowed to visit Ski Dubai (for safety reasons, as stated). The photo below shows the view of the resort from the shopping centre. The glass covers the entire huge wall, three floors high. I have always been interested in seeing what goes on inside.More details on Otzovik:https://otzovik.com/review_12001879.html
Entrance to the ski complex. Tickets can be purchased at the ticket office, but it is better to buy everything in advance on the website to avoid queues. I also booked clothes in advance and received them without queuing or trying them on. Winter clothing is provided free of charge. You can choose either a suit with trousers or a long jacket. Only jumpsuits are available for children. Winter boots and gloves with socks are also provided. Children must wear a helmet; otherwise, they will not be allowed on the larger slopes. You need to bring your own hats, or you can buy them at the shop at the entrance.
There are also lockers for personal belongings, which can be opened and closed with a bracelet. I didn’t see any changing rooms; everyone gets dressed on benches in the locker area. I also took tights and a long-sleeved jumper for my child. We got dressed with him in the toilet. Maybe I just didn’t notice the changing rooms, they would definitely be useful here. I also booked the penguin visit in advance on the website; the show is every half hour. They ask you to arrive at the complex 40 minutes before the start, probably so that you have time to get changed. The photo below shows the room where the meeting with the penguins begins. We still had about 20 minutes to spare before the start, so we decided to go inside the resort.
I was delighted with the visit, I liked everything, there are minor flaws, but they are insignificant. The very fact that there is such a place in a hot country is a miracle. For those who live in countries where there is no winter at all, it’s great.
It feels like a fairy tale and a holiday, the atmosphere is welcoming.
My feet and hands sometimes got cold, and my child’s feet and cheeks also got cold. You can go into the café to warm up, or you can leave the complex and come back in without any problems. By the way, they also give you socks here. When we got undressed, my feet were wet and black from the socks, and my child’s feet were also wet.
I definitely recommend this place. At Christmas and New Year, there are themed events with Santa Claus.
If you are tired of the heat or want some fairy tales, or just want to visit an interesting place, or you are a fan of winter sports, welcome.
I was very happy that I finally went there.
