Is It Snow or Just a Show? Exploring Ski Dubai in the Heart of the UAE

Upon entering Ski Dubai, I was struck by its atmosphere. Snow-capped mountains, ice sculptures and cute penguins walking around the grounds — it really makes an impression. The soft lighting and cool air made me feel like I had stepped into a completely different world, far away from the sweltering heat of Dubai.

However, looking around, I couldn’t shake the feeling that it was all a bit unnatural. Snow in the desert? Wasn’t this just an attempt to create an imitation of a winter resort? And, to be honest, the more I looked at all these people in ski suits, the more questions I had.

Skis and snow: is it a real experience?

When I decided to try my hand at skiing, the first thing that surprised me was the size. Ski Dubai cannot compete with real ski resorts.

The slope, although quite steep, is only one, and its length does not exceed 400 metres. Experienced skiers may find this insufficient for a full workout. For beginners, however, it can be a good opportunity to learn the basics, but there is nothing exciting about it.

There is indeed enough snow inside the complex, but in some places it looked a little old and compacted. I must mention that several times I had to manoeuvre between groups of tourists who seemed more focused on taking selfies than skiing.

Winter entertainment

In addition to skiing, Ski Dubai offers other entertainment options. For example, you can try tubing, which is sliding down a slope on a special inflatable sled, and it is sure to bring a smile to your face. There is also a snow park where you can build snowmen and snow forts.

But all of this looks like an attraction for children and does not leave a lasting impression on adults.

In addition, I was a little disappointed with the level of service. The queues for the lifts were quite long, and the equipment I rented looked rather worn. Perhaps this is standard for such a facility, but I would have liked better quality.

Should you visit Ski Dubai?

If you are looking for adventure and want to experience the atmosphere of a winter resort, Ski Dubai can be an interesting experience. However, it is worth remembering that it is more of an amusement park than a full-fledged ski resort. For those who are seriously into skiing, this complex may seem too small and superficial.
