Who would have thought that one of the world’s best ski slopes is located… in Dubai? How is that possible, when even in winter the temperature doesn’t drop below 30 degrees? It turns out it’s very possible. In the middle of the magnificent Mall of Emirates shopping centre, you can find this wonder – the SkiDubai ski resort.
It’s scorching hot outside, 40 degrees in the shade, but here there’s snow and people are walking around in jackets. Of course, I didn’t go in myself, as I was fleeing the freezing temperatures and didn’t feel like splashing out to have snow crunching under my feet again.
I was very impressed by a small dark-skinned child who was wrapped up in a jacket and looking at the snow with amazement… probably seeing it for the first time. Wow, I thought, people pay to touch snow… I wish it were like that in St. Petersburg…
It feels like you’re in a fairy tale, although in Dubai everything is like that: you never tire of marvelling at the splendour of this city.
